Welcome

Beyond this threshold. . .

Awaits a visual exploration into artist Lou DeAngelo’s passion for the abstract and his interpretation of this genre through his natural talent, the brazen use of bold and vibrant colors, his clever application of texture, and the off-the-beaten-path subjects using acrylics, charcoal, and mixed media to produce his expressive works. Capable of rare artistic diversity, DeAngelo easily adapts this same fervor to works that reflect a calm and gentle mood with his clever utilization of warm neutrals and rich earth tones, introducing splashes of the unexpected. As accomplished as he is versatile, DeAngelo has succeeded in presenting a gallery filled with variety and surprise as well as a glimpse of the inner excitement and enthusiasm that drives this prolific artist.

DeAngelo was 53 years old when he finally succumbed to his infatuation with abstract art. Though lacking formal education in this field but armed with an abundance of energy and resolve, and encouragement from his wife, Gail, he became serious about his art and at long last plunged heart and soul into this endeavor, choosing to heed the words of George Bernard Shaw who said, “A life making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.”

A New Jersey native and descendant of Italian immigrants, DeAngelo’s fearless and extroverted personality is obvious as he shows no hesitation when invoking cutting-edge ideas. Viewing every canvas as fair game, DeAngelo articulates his feelings through art. A father of three, this artist distinguishes himself by personalizing each of his works, adding the element of inspiration or something whimsical on the back of each painting. He may etch a quote from someone he admires or he may encourage his beloved grandchildren to place their handprints there, often including both. Each DeAngelo painting is a one-of-a-kind piece and is never duplicated.

Wander through The Gallery and view DeAngelo’s zest for experimentation in his incomparable and from-the-heart pieces including such stunning pieces as “The Neighborhood,” and his cherished very first artistic effort entitled, “Pinball.”   Enjoy the journey!

"A man who works with his hands is a lagorer, A man who works with his hands and his grain is a craftsman, but a man who works with his hands and his grain and his heart is an artist."
-Louis Nizer (1902-1994)
